Protect your Yield
Nigeria agriculture is characterized by small holdings, low capitalization and low yield per unit of land. Cereal crops are the major dietary energy supplier all over the world and particularly in Nigeria. In most part of Africa, cereals supply about 80% of the energy requirements. Major cereals produced in Nigeria include rice, sorghum, maize, sugar cane and pear millet which are mostly grown in the savannah agro ecological zone of the country.
Primary production of crops is mostly carried out manually by smallholder farmers. Tilling, ploughing and harrowing are often done manually which has a major impact on the produce when harvested. Even when improved seeds are available for planting, the yield is largely dependent on the planting activities.
We conduct research and training all year long, to stay abreast of new and improved crop production techniques available through modern technology. These activities include loosening the soil, seeding, special watering, moving plants when they grow bigger, and harvesting, among others. To ensure the projected yield is achieved by the smallholder farmers, SCAGRIC provides mechanization services for land preparation.
